  Brazil's great port
Santos is the State of São Paulo's port for industry, agro-industry and agriculture, as well as for large areas of the regions south-east, south and central-west in Brazil and the Mercosur countries. It means the subcontinent's most prosperous part. With the necessary investments and logistics, Santos shall guarantee its position as hub port for Brazil's southeastern region and the entire South America's southern cone. The modernization process, which started in 1993 and still goes on, qualified 150 companies and privatized cargo movement.



Privatization and growth
The Port of Santos' privatization model allows businesses in the areas of portuary operation, port works, leasing of areas, portuary equipment, containers and industrial centers. Movement and productivity have increased. Through the Santos Port Leasing and Partnership Program (SPLPP) 24 areas have been leased and another 27 are under examination, including the Terminal of Grains (Tegran), the second Terminal of Containers (Tecon 2) and the Terminal of Fertilizers (Tefer). Among the substructure works, the construction of a tunnel under the estuary of Santos is open to private undertaking, with 2,700m, linking the left and the right margins.
